Myanmar The border trade between China and Yunnan province is very close. However, China and Burma have not yet signed a health safety standard agreement. Many Burma goods are rejected by China because they have no formal license.

According to the August 25th report, China does not allow Burma products to enter the market without obtaining import licenses. Yunnan The province (Yunnan handover to Burma) also imposed higher tariffs on Burma goods permitted to enter the country. These two factors also aggravate smuggling.

Officials in Yunnan say that as long as the central government permits, Yunnan's local government will relax border restrictions, so that rice, corn and rubber can be used. The consultant of the Ministry of Commerce of Burma also said that Burma has a lot of business opportunities to export to Yunnan. If the Chinese government relaxes the restrictions, the trade will be more frequent.

Yunnan officials said: "China is very strict in importing products from Burma. But at the same time, Burma is also an important source of agricultural products. We really want to increase imports of Burma products, but we must ensure that the quality of imported products meets official inspection standards, so as to ensure food safety.

Some Burma Trade Traders complained that a large quantity of rice was forced to return because of the inability to pass customs at the trading ports in Burma and Yunnan. Although trade relations between Yunnan and Burma are getting closer and closer, Burma exports more and more rice to China. However, China believes that the import of rice from Burma is not in line with the formal standard, because the two countries have not yet signed the relevant health safety standards agreement.

According to statistics released by the Yunnan authorities, the trade volume between Yunnan and Burma reached US $4 billion 173 million in 2013, an increase of 83.6% over 2012. Moreover, bilateral trade volume increased further in 2014, and bilateral trade volume reached US $3 billion 223 million in the first half of 2014 alone. In addition, Yunnan businessmen have established 41 enterprises in Burma with a total investment of several billion dollars.

Yunnan province commerce department related personages said that Burma is the Yunnan enterprise key development market, the Yunnan enterprise has already signed many contract agreements with Burma, involves the port, the hydroelectric power station, the road construction and so on. However, officials from the Ministry of Commerce of Kachin state in Burma complained that some Chinese businessmen invested in factories and produce products in Burma, but did not mark the words "made in Burma". They suspected of cheating and did not respect Burma's origin.
