Garments And Garments

Several garment companies in Bangladesh Ashulia and Narayanganj have restarted and workers have returned to work. The government has stepped up security measures, after which they carried out several days of violent protest, demanding the abandonment of the new wage structure.

As thousands of workers approached the newly opened clothing and garment factories, several policemen wearing bullet proof vests and helmets were stationed in several major industrial areas to maintain law and order.

After the three party talks between the government, clothing and garment factories and trade union leaders, they accepted a new wage structure to raise the minimum monthly wage of the 3 million garment and garment workers in Bangladesh by 80%.

Abdus Salam Murshedy, President of Bangladesh garment manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), said that when workers entered factories, they had a smile on their faces. In addition, the factory owner has been ordered to carry out the new wage structure according to the specified date.

Although everything has been proved, some people are pessimistic. They believe that there is a conspiracy between the government, the garment factory owners and the workers, which is unfavourable to the workers. In addition, these people say that those who accept the wage structure announced by the government are not real worker representatives who trade the rights of workers with factory owners.
